SPARK BALI

MICRO SCHOOL

DEVOTED TO TEENAGERS EDUCATION

JLN PUSKESMAS - SAYAN - UBUD - BALI

Background

The founder's sons struggled in traditional schooling but thrived academically through homeschooling, yet lacked crucial social and emotional development.

This gap inspired the birth of SPARK BALI micro-school, aimed at addressing academic, social, and emotional needs.

SPARK BALI merges tailored academic support with a focus on fostering independent study skills alongside individual social and emotional growth, creating an engaging learning environment.

With a founder experienced in Sociology, Communications, learning disorder management, and Speech therapy, the priority is delivering exceptional service at an affordable cost for families in Bali. Our fee structure ensures fair compensation for teachers and materials.

SPARK BALI's vision extends beyond profit, aiming to evolve as a specialized micro-school prioritizing holistic education over financial gain.

TEACHING APPROACH

Spark recognizes that students of the same age might not be uniformly developed. A child might excel in reading while lagging behind in numeracy or literacy. Our progressive teaching approach embraces multi-age classrooms to alleviate pressure and feelings of inadequacy, fostering an environment where students can thrive, succeed, and form a sense of community and social responsibility. This approach boosts their self-confidence significantly.

Spark's objective is to provide exceptional, personalized teaching. By working with small groups of learners spanning various ages, skills, and personalities, Spark combines diverse teaching methods. Students are individually challenged in academic subjects for specific hours daily while engaging in project-based work for the rest of the time.

At Spark we integrate two different approaches to teaching:

Curriculum approach

At SPARK the curriculum currently in place encompasses a range of subjects some aligned with the Cambridge International path and IGCSE/AS/A LEVEL exams and some uniquely developed by SPARK Faculties.

These subjects serve as the bedrock for our academic instruction.

This comprehensive selection comprises BUSINESS STUDIES, ENGLISH Esl and Fle, MATH core and extended, ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT, ICT, MARINE BIOLOGY, GEOGRAPHY, COMPUTER SCIENCE, BAHASA INDONESIA, TRAVEL AND TOURISM.

These subjects have been carefully chosen to provide students with a robust foundation that prepares them to confidently take on academic challenges and opportunities that may come their way and to facilitate their relocation to most of their home countries due to the popoluarity and high recognition of the Cambridge Curriculum

PROJECT BASE APPROACH

In addition to the core subjects, we approach other areas of learning with a slightly different perspective.

Subjects such as Science, Bahasa Indonesia, Global Perspective, Food Culture, Cooking Lessons, Creative Thinking, Physics, and PE are addressed through a more flexible and dynamic methodology.

We believe in nurturing our students' passions by adopting a less rigid approach, and for this reason, we incorporate project-based learning into some of these lessons.

PBL approach not only allows students to explore these subjects in greater depth but also encourages creative thinking, problem-solving, and a deeper engagement with the material.

SPARK BALI's Distinctiveness: the significance of One-on-One Sessions for Students with their subject teachers.

At SPARK BALI, we have made dedicated efforts to cultivate the growth of teenagers, going beyond the conventional school system. Our commitment to innovation is evident in our approach, where we prioritize the development of students.

This is reflected in our distinct method: conducting group lessons from Monday to Friday and designating the first period in the morning for personalized one-on-one sessions between students and their subject teachers.

These individualized interactions hold a multitude of benefits that contribute to academic growth, emotional well-being, and a deeper understanding of the subject matter.

Personalized Learning: One-on-one sessions provide an intimate learning environment where teachers can tailor their instruction to match the specific needs and pace of each student. Whether a student needs extra support to grasp a challenging concept or seeks advanced material to nurture their curiosity, these sessions can be adapted to cater to various learning requirements.

Clarification of Doubts: Students often hesitate to voice their questions or concerns in a crowded classroom due to fear of judgment or limited time. One-on-one sessions create a safe space for students to openly discuss their doubts and queries without any apprehension.

Building Strong Relationships: Establishing a strong student-teacher relationship is crucial for effective learning. One-on-one sessions enable teachers to form deeper connections with their students, understanding their personalities, strengths, and weaknesses on a more personal level.

Boosting Confidence: When their progress is recognized and celebrated during one-on-one sessions, students are more likely to take ownership of their learning journey and display increased enthusiasm for the subject. This heightened confidence can extend beyond academics, positively impacting other areas of a student's life as well.

Focused Feedback: Constructive feedback is an integral part of a student's growth. In one-on-one sessions, teachers can provide targeted feedback that highlights a student's strengths and suggests areas for improvement.

Emotional Well-being: Education isn't solely about acquiring knowledge; it's also about nurturing emotional well-being. One-on-one sessions offer students a platform to discuss any challenges they might be facing, both academically and personally. Teachers can provide guidance, empathy, and valuable life skills to help students navigate these challenges effectively.
